Carp fishing in Christchurch Angling Club

Like much of the country, Carp fishing in Christchruch Angling club is very popular.

We are very fortunate to have numerous fisheries containing carp for all levels of experience and styles of fishing. Our waters range from small intermit estate lakes to vast gravel pits containing specimen fish, the club boasts a healthy stocking policy of quality and good looking fish to ensure the carp fishing of the future.

A firm favourite with the current carp angling membership is the Somerley estate with Meadow and King Vincents lakes.
King Vincents offers excellent fishing, from floater and float fishing in the margins during the summer to mid winter madness. Meadow Lake is renowned for the number of 20lb plus carp, which are present and recently the lake record, has been broken with a carp touching 38 pounds.
In the winter it is not unheard of for there to be multiple captchers no matter what the weather or temperature and this is a highly recommended carp venue. Nether water is exceptionally difficult as both are quite hungry waters and a good application of bait will produce quality fishing.

A couple of our smaller venues such as in Wedge Hill and Holtwood brick pits are tailor made for match style fishing. These waters are also used as stock venues for our larger waters.
Both of these venues are ideal for juniors to learn their fishing craft and pit their wits against the hard fighting carp.

Harrow pond on the other hand is the most tranquil estate lake that you could wish to find. This secluded stream fed lake, boasts numerously lily beds and vast rushes, offering time to sit back and relax in quite surroundings, fishing traditional methods to temp the whilly carp.
From float fishing off your rod tip or underneath over hanging branches to surface fishing amongst the lilies this is not a lake you are going to find buzzers and buzz bar, take a step back in time and enjoy the atmosphere.

One of our most up and coming waters is Hucklesbrook Lake; Quality Fishery Management has made this water easily accessible to all. A new stocking of some stunning carp will secure the future fishing and in years to come will be a premier water for 20 and 30 plus pound carp. Not only will multiple catches occur in the summer but also in the winter and already the lake has produced a common carp of over 35 pounds.

For the absolute dedicated carp angler who is looking for a challenge and does not mind sitting watching the water for months on end with no fish, then the opposite end of the spectrum exists in Spinaker Lake, there are common and mirror carp over 40 pounds.

However for the pioneering element of you then the rivers surely offer the biggest challenge and the largest waters that we possess. Both the Hampshire Avon and the Dorset Stour have an untapped potential and already carp of over 30 pounds have been produced from both waters.

Good luck and tight lines.
