Golden Springs

As we informed members at the January General Meeting, the new owner was undertaking further survey work with regard to imminent development of the site for watercress production, and, as promised, he has come back to us.

Over the next 12-18 months, the degree of their proposed works are such that disturbance and health & safety issues will mean that there will be a postponement of CAC’s angling use from June 2008. Effectively, from an angling standpoint, this means from the 15 March 2008.

The Club has been informed that when works are complete (indicated as being within 24 months), the owner will be in a position to discuss the renewal of angling facilities with the Club. At that stage, both parties will know how much of the site may be available for angling and the circumstances pertaining. Our intention is to re-instate the fishing here as soon as it is practicable/available.

In the meantime, we are mindful of the remaining fish stocks and the Club is offering its advice and services in respect of feeding, managing and protecting these fish during the interim period whilst there is no angling presence on the bank or bait being introduced.

We will keep members informed as to progress when any news becomes available, and, in the meantime, if any members are aware of another fishery which may be available in the locality during this period, they are asked to contact the Secretary.
