Weghill Ponds

ABOUT THE VENUE
These three small ponds situated near Verwood are the ideal water for youngsters to learn and for the pleasure angler to have good catches in picturesque surroundings. With plenty of margin lilies and an island in each lake this is the ideal water for stalking your quarry as well as being a good water for floater fishing.
With fish to 20lb although sporadic there are plenty of doubles and single figure fish which give a good account of themselves and provide excellent sport on lighter rods and tackle. There is also a successful survival rate for the naturally spawned fish in these ponds and quite often stocky sized fish and smaller can be caught fishing match tactics.
On the whole commons are the predominant strain of fish although there are some good mirrors and ghost carp that are resident.
These waters are used to stock our bigger carp waters and have seen successful weights reached by our fish that were stocked in past years. For this reason we do not like to see people using too heavy lines, hooks and leads and would ask members to give a little thought to how heavy they fish on these ponds.
Crucian carp are also resident in these ponds with fish in excess of 3 pounds being caught by our members.
Good fishing all year round with closure for 1 month in may to june at present.
Please check match dates before fishing as this water is a match venue and may be closed on dates noted in membership books.
This is day water only and night fishing is not available on this water. Please check entry/leaving times in book.
